COVGOG activity in recent weeks has largely mirrored the story of the COVID Pandemic. After a promising start last September when we reconvened, we had to take a short break after Christmas when Omicron infection levels increased.
However, the club has been able to reintroduce its Tuesday evening meetings albeit with activity restricted mainly to running and club nights. We have been delighted to welcome back so many familiar faces and despite some restrictions still being in place it is almost as if the last two years never happened.
Running sessions have seen new locos and rolling stock that have been built through the pandemic. At least two of the locos running round had been painted by professionals. They left many members scratching their heads wondering how they apply such fine detail!
On 5 March a good proportion of the club headed over to Kettering. We had a great time, meeting up before hand in the refreshment area before hitting the bring and buy and the rest of the show. It’s always a pleasure to meet up and chat with other Guild members and traders. New products are always of interest and the Dapol stand was noted as having some particularly tempting items. Thanks must go to all those involved in arranging and running the show. Without them the hobby would not be as pleasurable as it is.
Club evenings are currently restricted to members but by the time you read this it may be that we have been able to open our doors to all.
