A bumper quarter for COVGOG! Highlights include:
1. Mike Tovey and Mark Horley completing their diorama for entry in the upcoming Peco competition. The finished article was on display at Guildex along with a fictional backstory created by Mike.
2. Andy Stant being awarded second place in the Modern Image competition at
Guildex. (Well done Andy).
3. Mark Horley almost taking over the August Guild Gazette with his articles.
4. Mark Horley (again) giving a most informative and entertaining presentation to the
club on Great Western Railway wagons and the modelling of them.
5. A fascinating presentation on 3D printing given by club members Dave and William Pegg and Matt Havelock.
6. Successful and well attended running sessions and other evening meetings. These include the ever-popular show and tell sessions the latest of which included purchases made at Guildex as well as ongoing builds. These include innovations from the Peggs in 3D printing. William Pegg is becoming skilled in the use of 3D printing software. This has enabled him to design and create a range of items from (model) diesel bogies to window frames for buildings. Exposure to 3D printing means that many club members are aware of its potential for future projects.
The COVGOG committee is reviewing ways in which the long established pattern of evening sessions can be refreshed. DVD nights are no longer as well attended as they were whilst running nights continue to be our most popular events. We occasionally hold skills nights which go down well and are planning additional talks by external people and club members. We are open to new ideas so if you have any suggestions for our club evenings we would welcome them.
